Very interesting article, Tamara! I really value my time alone, but I also have a lot of solitary hobbies- knitting, reading, writing my Action Research Paper. . .
I don't know if there's a right way to address this. Yes, collaboration is a valuable tool for both students and teachers (and others, too), but we also need time for deep reflection on our own thoughts and ideas. I think we all like to "check in" with others to make sure we are on the right track and not going off the deep end, but maybe the best way to explore this is to do it in a non-threatening, no-wrong answer type of setting.
Thanks Tamara, and I hope you're having a wonderful school year!
Hi Amanda! I thought blogging and DL2ing are similar to the type of solitary/collaborating fusion the author recommends. Also, I think I like to replace the "donut time" described at HP with a different type of "time" to just informally talk.
Finally, it was nice to hear from you. So far, the 2012 half of the school year has been wonderful.
